Official Call for a Mass Meeting of the Augusta County
Republican Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia

As Chairman of the Augusta County Republican Committee of the Republican Party of Virginia,
and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as recommended and directed by the Committee, I, Rebecca Simmons, do hereby issue this call for a Mass Meeting to be held at the Augusta County Government Center, 18 Government Center Lane, Verona, Virginia, 24482, in the Board of Supervisors Room or alternate location, starting at 10:00 a.m. local time on Saturday, March 14, 2020 for the following purposes:

1. Elect the Chairman of the Augusta County Republican Committee.
2. Elect Delegates and Alternates to represent the Committee at the Republican 6th Congressional District Convention which shall be held on May 30, 2020, at Central High School, 1147 Susan Avenue, Woodstock, VA 22664, or its alternate site, starting at 10:00 a.m. The Augusta County Republican Committee shall have 174 delegate votes. The maximum number of delegates who may represent Augusta County is 870.
At the District Convention, Delegates will elect a District Chairman, three (3) Regional Vice Chairmen, three (3) Representatives to the State Central Committee, three (3) Delegates and three (3) Alternates to the National Convention, and one (1) Presidential Elector.
3. Elect Delegates and Alternates to represent the Committee at the Republican Party of Virginia 2020 Quadrennial Convention which shall be held on May 1-2, 2020, at Liberty University Vines Center, or its alternate location, convening on Friday, May 1st at 2:30 p.m. The Augusta County Republican Committee shall have 174 delegate votes. The maximum number of delegates who may represent Augusta County is 870. At the State Convention, the Delegates will:
a) vote on a Presidential Preference poll to bind the statewide Virginia
delegation to the 2020 RNC convention as to their choice for President,
b) elect 12 At-Large Delegates and 12 At-Large Alternates to the Republican National Convention,
c) nominate 2 Electors At-Large to be voted for in the presidential election on November 3, 2020,
d) elect a State Chairman,
e) nominate a National Committeeman and National Committeewoman.
4. Elect members of the Augusta County Republican Committee.
5. Transact such other business as may properly come before the Mass Meeting.
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of Augusta County under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
Filing Requirements
Candidates for election as Delegates and Alternates to the 6th Congressional District Convention, may file a pre-file form, which is a written statement of intention, by mail or in person, by appointment to Augusta County Republican Committee, P.O. Box 430, Verona VA. 24482 or deliver in person, to Larry Roller, Treasurer or Mona Huffer, Secretary. Pre-file form must be received no later than Friday, February 28, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. Larry Roller or Mona Huffer and/or his/her proxy will be at the Verona Post Office from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 to receive filings. This is the preferred method of pre-filing but registration is accepted at the mass meeting. Pre-file form is attached to this Call and posted on the websites of the Augusta County Republican Committee www.augustavagop.com, the Sixth District, sixthdistrictgop.org or the Republican Party of Virginia www.rpv.com. Postmarks do not govern.

There shall be no nominations from the floor for the office of Chair.
Attendance at the Mass Meeting.
If the number of qualified persons seeking election as a member of the Committee does not exceed the total number allowed by the State Party Plan, all candidates for such office shall be deemed elected. Therefore, persons who have pre-filed form to be Committee members shall be automatically elected, and their attendance at the Mass Meeting is not required.
Qualified persons who have filed to be state or district convention delegates or alternates shall be automatically elected if the number of those seeking to be delegates or alternates to the convention does not exceed 870. In that case, attendance at the Mass Meeting is not required.
If not more than one qualified person files for the office of Chair, and qualified persons filed for committee membership does not exceed the total number allowed by the party plan, and not more than 870 qualified persons file to be delegates to either the Virginia 2020 Quadrennial convention or the 6th District Convention, then all those who filed shall be automatically elected and the Mass Meeting shall be cancelled.
Mass Meeting Registration, Proper Identification and Active Military
Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. Persons who have not registered or are not in line to register by 10:00 A.M will not be allowed to participate or vote in the Mass Meeting. Those who seek to participate in the Mass Meeting shall be required to present valid photo identification to the Credentials Committee at the time of registration, just as is done in Virginia elections.
Any Military Member who is otherwise qualified under Article I to participate in Republican Party actions and who complies with the procedures to become a delegate, and who produces valid military identification or other proof of active-duty status shall be certified as a delegate and shall not be required to be elected as a delegate at the Mass Meeting.
Voluntary Filing Contributions for the District
To assist the operations of the Republican Party of Virginia in supporting Unit mass meetings and conventions, and the administration of the District Convention, a voluntary candidate filing contribution of $20.00 is requested of each person standing for election as a delegate or alternate to the District.
2020 Republican State Convention – Delegate Registration Fee
To assist the operations of the Republican Party of Virginia in supporting unit mass meeting and conventions, and the administration of the state Convention, a Delegate Registration Fee of Thirty-Five Dollars ($35.00) is requested of each person standing for election as a delegate or alternate delegate to the state Convention. Any delegate who fails to pay the registration fee may participate only in the Presidential Preference Poll.
Augusta County Republican Committee Membership Fee
To assist the operations of our local Republican party, and to identify those members that have been approved as committee members to ensure voting rights according to the committee bylaws, a $24.00 fee is required to file for membership in the Augusta County Republican Committee.
Registration Fee
There shall be no registration fee to participate in the Mass Meeting.
Proper Notice
The Call for this Mass Meeting is herewith published on the websites of the Republican Party of Virginia www.rpv.com, the Sixth Congressional District Committee sixthdistrictgop.org and the Augusta County Republican Committee at www.augustavagop.com. In accordance with Article B, Section A, paragraph 2 of the Party Plan, the required publication in a newspaper has been waived.
Copies of the Call were sent via email to all members of the Augusta County Republican Committee and the Chairwoman of the 6th District Committee.
